Fahmi Ben Abdelkader • Scientific coordinator | Affliate Professor at ESCP Europe

Fahmi Ben Abdelkader holds a Ph.D. in Economics and a master’s degree in International Economics from Sorbonne University in Paris. In 2011, he won the International Doctoral Prize for Research Work in Economic Studies by the CEDIMES Institute, in recognizing “his expertise on the economies of the MENA region and in endorsing his analysis of institutional change and development in this region ». He has co-authored a book on the role of governance institutions in the development process in the MENA region. He has served as a consultant to the World Bank where he conducted a survey on corporate governance mechanisms of State Owned Enterprises in the MENA region. He has taught a wide range of courses in Finance and Economics at several French academic institutions, namely Sorbonne University of Paris and ESCP Europe Business School, as well as ESSEC Business School and HEC Paris. Fahmi Ben Abdelkader is currently an independent consultant providing financial training for executives and research services. He is an affiliate professor of finance at ESCP Europe Business School, and a visiting lecturer at HEC Paris and ESA business school Beirut. In October 2015, he joined Labex ReFi as a scientific coordinator.

Yuri Biondi • Director of the research unit Financial Information and Accounting Regulation | Researcher at Cnrs

Yuri Biondi is tenured research fellow of the CNRS, appointed at the ESCP Europe Paris campus. Graduate of the Bocconi University of Milan (DES), of the University of Lyon (DEA, PhD), of the University of Brescia (PhD) and of the University of Paris I Sorbonne (HDR), he is editor of the Journal “Accounting, Economics and Law: A Convivium” and convener of the SASE research network devoted to “Accounting Economics and Law.” He has been chairman of the Financial Accounting Standards Committee (FASC) of the American Accounting Association (AAA) from August 2011 to August 2013.

Gunter Capelle-Blancard • PhD Program Director | Professor at University of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne

Gunther_capelle_blancardGunther Capelle-Blancard is Professor at the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, Deputy-Dean of the Sorbonne School of Economics, and research associate at Labex ReFi. From 2007 to 2009, he was scientific advisor at the French Council of Economic Analysis, an independent, non partisan advisory body reporting to the Prime Minister. Then, from 2009 to 2013, he was Deputy-Director of the CEPII, a research center in international economics. His research interests include financial markets, financial regulation and taxation, ethics, and corporate social responsibility. His research has been published in international peer-reviewed journals such as The Review of FinanceThe European Financial Management JournalBusiness EthicsThe Journal of Environmental Economics and ManagementThe Journal of Investing,..Gunther has a PhD from the University of Paris 1, which has been awarded by the Chancelleries des Universités de Paris. He won also the Euronext prize from the French finance association for the best PhD thesis in finance.

Raphaël Douady • International Affairs Director | Professor at University of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne


Dr Raphael Douady, Mathematician and Economist, C.N.R.S. (French national centre for scientific research), Centre d’Economie de la Sorbonne, University of Paris 1. Founder and CEO of Datacore Innovations LLC, former co-founder of Riskdata S.A.

Raphael Douady is a French mathematician and economist, specialised in financial mathematics and chaos theory. With more than twenty years experience in the banking industry (risk management, option models, trading strategies) and thirty years research in pure and applied mathematics, Dr Douady is renowned for his highly sophisticated quantitative solutions and statistical analysis.

A former fellow of Ecole Normale Supérieure in Paris, he earned his Ph.D. in 1982 in Hamiltonian dynamics and became strongly involved in Finance in 1993. Currently affiliated with University of Paris 1-Sorbonne Economic Center (CES) and the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS), he has also been appointed Frey Chair Professor at Stony Brook University, where he leads the graduate program in quantitative finance. He has lead and organized numerous academic, as well as practitioner conferences around the world, including the New York University seminar of Mathematical Finance and Paris Europlace conferences. His most recent research topics are Hedge Funds risks, for which he has developed especially suited powerful nonlinear statistical models, and systemic risk.

Raphael Douady is the founder of Datacore Innovations LLC, a provider of long-term investment strategies for the buy-side industry focusing on downside protection and crises anticipation. Prior to that, he was one of the founders and the research director of Riskdata, a market-leading provider of risk management tools for investors, asset managers, hedge funds, fund of funds, and pension funds. He is also a member and former academic director of the French “Laboratory of Excellence” devoted to financial regulation (LabEx ReFi),board member of the Praxis Club, a New York based think tank advising the French government on its economic policy and other related topics and of Friends of IHES, an American charity supporting the Institut des Hautes Etudes Scientifiques.

Eric Lamarque • Director of the research unit : Markets, Banking and Financial Risks Supervision | Professor at University of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne

Eric Lamarque, is Full Professor at Sorbonne Graduate business School in Paris 1 University. Author and contributor to five books and many publications on bank management, financial management and corporate governance, he’s also consultant for several financial institutions in France, North America and Africa around transformation projects and post-merger integration. He’s also member of the board of a French cooperative regional bank and hold of chair funded by Groupe BPCE.
His research interests are banking strategies, risk management in the banking sector, banks’ corporate governance and financial supervision.

François-Gilles Le Theule • Executive Director, Chairman of the Executive Committee | Inspector General at Ministry of Agriculture

membres_letheuleFrançois-Gilles Le Theule, né en 1961, est professeur affilié à ESCP Europe depuis 2012 et membre du Conseil général de l’alimentation, de l’agriculture et des espaces ruraux (Ministère français de l’agriculture) depuis juillet 2014. Auparavant il était directeur des affaires européennes de l’ENA après avoir été directeur du Centre des études européennes de Strasbourg de 2006 à 2010. Il a aussi été directeur général du groupe Maiz’Europ’ (1998-2005), expert national détaché à la direction générale des relations économiques extérieures de la Commission européenne (1993-1996), président du Comité de liaison des experts nationaux détachés auprès des institutions de l’Union européenne (1994-1995). Il a été chef de secteur au SGCI France (1990-1993) et à DCN (1982-1987).

Ingénieur, ancien élève de l’École polytechnique, de l’École nationale d’administration (promotion Liberté-Egalité-Fraternité 1989), Master en droit public (Paris II Panthéon Assas 1987). Il est membre du conseil d’administration de l’Institut d’études politiques de Strasbourg où il enseigne, de même qu’à l’ENA, AgroParisTech et ESCP-Europe.

Son enseignement porte sur l’ingénierie des politiques européennes au travers de trois axes : la gouvernance, les ressources humaines, et la prospective stratégique. Les politiques qu’il étudie sont liées à l’agriculture, au développement durable et à la régulation financière.

Christophe Moussu • Academic co-director, Director of the research unit Finance and Society | Professor at ESCP Europe

Christophe MoussuChristophe Moussu, ESCP graduate, has a Master in Financial Economics from the University Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne, a PhD in Finance from the University of Dijon and a HDR from the University of Lille 2. After a first experience in venture capital, he received a grant from the National Scientific Research Center for his doctorate and was invited as Research Fellow at Simon School of Business Administration (Rochester University). He joined the ESCP Europe faculty in 1993. He has served as scientific director of many graduate and executive programs. His research interest is related to the effect of corporate financial decisions on the real decisions of firms. He is also interested in the impact of law, regulation and incentives in financial and non-financial firms. He has advised several corporations on their financial policies and organizational architecture.

Philippe de Peretti • Director of the research unit Systemic Risk | Professor at University of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne

Dr. Philippe de Peretti holds a PhD in Economics from the University Paris1 Panthéon-Sorbonne (2002). He formerly worked as an economist at the Banque de France. He is now an Assistant Professor at the Paris1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University at the “Centre d’Economie de la Sorbonne”. His research interests include micro-econometrics, time series econometrics, nonparametric statistics, systemic risk and monetary economics. He is currently heading for Paris1 a FP7 project on systemic risk and he is also the head the “Systemic risk” axis of the LabEx réfi. Ph. de Peretti also heads a master of econometrics. He is an officer of the Society for Economic Measurement.
Pierre-Charles Pradier • Academic co-director and Head of the School of Financial Regulation | Professor at University of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne

Pierre-Charles Pradier is associate professor at Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University. He has been the dean of the economics department, before serving as vice-provost, then dean of the national school of insurance (ENAss/CNAM). Since 2016, he has been chairing the terminology committee with the French Economics Ministry (http://terminologie2017.ministere-eco-finances.fr/) and the ReFi+ Graduate School project for the LabEx RéFi (http://www.labex-refi.com/).

He has authored numerous papers on the economics of risk in a historical perspective as well as financial regulation, and two books: Le risque en théorie économique (La Découverte, which was awarded the 2007 Risques award) and Financial Regulation in the EU from Resilience to Growth (with Raphaël Douady and Clément Goulet, Palgrave Macmillan).

Iryna Veryzhenko a soutenu sa thèse en finance de marché à l’IAE de Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne (co-tutelle avec le Laboratoire d’informatique fondamentale de Lille 1). En 2011, elle a travaillé en tant qu’A.T.E.R au sein de  l’École nationale des arts et métiers de Paris. En 2012 elle a intégré l’École supérieure de sciences commerciales d’Angers en tant que professeur assistant en finance quantitative. Depuis septembre 2013, elle travaille comme maître de conférences au Cnam Paris.
